Boylston Antiques is Proud to Offer for Sale
A Set of 6 Chippendale Style Mahogany Needlepoint Chairs 1st Q 20th C.
A set of six Chippendale Style Mahogany Ribbon Back Dining Chairs, 5 Side and 1 Arm, with needlepoint seats.
• The 6 needlepoint seats are done in lovely complimentary patterns, each one slightly different but composing a harmonious set.
• The needlepoint background is linen white with a floral wreath motif composed of rose and green with touches of magenta, blue and yellow.
• The deep, upholstered sprung seats are padded with horsehair and studded with wide-headed upholstery nails along each chair rail.
• The mahogany frames are reasonably sturdy; the 3 back slats are pierced and carved in the famous ribbon design and exhibit a deep, rich surface patina.
• The front legs and chair rails are fluted.
• The arms of the armchair are serpentine, terminating in scrolled hand-holds.
• There is a single stretcher between the front and back legs, a single stretcher between the 2 back legs and a center stretcher between the 2 side stretchers. The center stretcher of almost all of the chairs has been considerably chewed by dog teeth.
• The crest rail height is 40†from the floor.
• The seat sits 19†from the floor.
• The seat is 22†wide.
• The seat depth is 17â€.
• The width of the arms on the armchair is 26 ¼â€.
These chairs are in reasonable condition. The surface patina is nicked and worn, as expected in chairs approaching 100 years of age. The chairs are in sturdy shape for this age of chair. The seats exhibit some discoloration. 4 of the chairs are missing the fluted front surface board on the front seat rail. 3 of the chairs are missing the left and right side fluted surface boards of the chair rails. (See photos). With the heavy upholstery, the chair rails are not very noticeable.
These chairs may be picked up in Boylston, MA. Pick up expected within 14 days of close of auction; items not picked up within 30 days are subject to forfeiture.

For Auction is a beautiful Reverse Painted Table Lamp made by The Pittsburgh Lamp and Brass Company of Pittsburgh, PA. The shade blank is done in the Chipped Ice or Glue Chip More »
For Auction is a beautiful Reverse Painted Table Lamp made by The Pittsburgh Lamp and Brass Company of Pittsburgh, PA. The shade blank is done in the Chipped Ice or Glue Chip method with both Obverse and Reverse Painting on it. The Table Lamp Stands 21 1/2" tall and the Shade has a diameter of 16".
The Shade displays a very vibrant and colorful what some collectors call a "Fire and Ice" Daytime Winter Scene. The colors are just wonderful as there is a beautiful Teal/ Blue for the Sky with Brilliant Yellows, Greens, Browns, and lots of Rosy Lilac background blended into the sky. The Winter Scenic appears to be an early morning one with the Sun Rising amongst a fresh snow. You can see newly fallen snow on the Pine Trees. There are Mountains Peaks in the back ground and foreground.
The Shade sits on a 2 Light mixed metal base with an excellent original patina. The style of the vase is what I believe to be an Artichoke. The design on the foot's outer edges as well as the leaves at the top of the column just below the cluster tell me this. There are two original ball pull chain sockets that are in excellent working order. The patina is a Green over deep brown/black and is considered a 9 out of a 10 for quality level.
The Table Lamp is in excellent condition and I must make this statement, "This is probably the nicest 100% Original Pittsburgh Reverse Painted Lamp I have ever owned". The condition of the Shade and Base is outstanding for nearly 85 years of use. You simply do not find these like this one anymore. Everything is original except for the antique style brown rayon cord, even the plug is original. The shade has no chips or dings and the base shows minor wear. The lamp has no signature on it but it is a documented lamp in "The Better Electric Lamps Book of the 20's and 30's ". This is clearly a Pittsburgh Table Lamp 100% and not a Marriage!!.
Purchase with confidence as these Reverse Painted Lamps are much more affordable than The Handel and Pairpoint Lamps. They are a worthy Investment that has risen steadily for the past 30 years. I'm quite sure the Buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. « Less

For Auction is a very nice piece of Carnival Glass made by The Fenton Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia. The Pattern is "Water Lily" and the shape is known as a sauce or small bowl. The Bowl stands approximately 2 3/8" tall and is 5 3/4" in diameter at the widest part of the ruffle.
The interior of this little gem has a pattern of alternating Lotus Blossoms and Buds with Poinsettias in between. There is also one Water Lily or Lotus Blossom in the center . The exterior is plain as there is no pattern. The bowl is Blue with very Vibrant iridescence. The colors are just splendid as you can see brilliant Fuchsias, Greens and Blues on the interior and exterior of the piece. The sauce has three ball feet to complete the look.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is unsigned as is true with this early pattern. This is a very nice bowl in a not so commonly found color for this pattern. Those Collector's of Blue and Fenton and want an excellent example in both form and Iridescence will be extremely pleased with their purchase.
This piece is early as it was made Circa 1915-1922.

For sale is a very hard to find piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is more commonly known as a Gold Aurene "Salt". This Beautiful salt is a nice petite size as it stands 1 1/8" Tall and has a diameter of 1 7/8".
The Vase displays a very strong Gold Aurene Favrile Iridescence that only Steuben is known for. The Salt has a very pleasing shape and it reminds me of a witches Caldron. It has a bulbous bottom with a raised flared lip. It has a Brilliant Gold Mirrored Metallic appearance, yet it is Glass. This was Frederick Carder at his best. The iridescence is just brilliant as you can see very strong hues of Fuchsia when looking inside. The top lip has a platinum blue hue to it.
The Salt is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, or dings. The only issues to report are minor. There is an area on the exterior surface with a tiny scratch and there is spotting in the fuming on the underside. This cannot be seen when displayed. It can only be seen when turned upside down. This is pictured as well.
The Vase is not signed on the bottom and more than likely has a Paper Label at one time. This Steuben Salt is probably the Rarest of the Salt Forms that Steuben produced. You commonly see the footed ones. You hardly ever see these little beauties. This is shape number "2662" in the Steuben Catalog. This is a quality piece of Art glass and will enhance any Art Glass Collection. Those of you who collect Aurene Salts or Salts in general want a rare example don't let this pass you by. I will attach a link to the Steuben Club website that shows a picture of this form in this same color Gold Aurene.

This vase has a nice wide flaring rim to accommodate a nice bouquet of flowers. The color is green with Marigold iridescence at the top fading towards the bottom two thirds of this vase. For Auction is a very hard to find Paperweight made by Fratelli Toso (Murano) of Italy. The Decoration of this Paperweight is called "Millefiori" (a thousand flowers). This Paperweight is a nice size as it stands 2 3/8" (60.33 mm) tall and is 3" (76.20 mm) in diameter at its widest point.
This Paperweight has an acid matte frosted background base glass. It displays some of the nicest multi colored Millefiori Canes that I have ever seen on a Murano paperweight. The Millefiori decoration is simply beautiful!! It appears that there are no two Murrines exactly the same. They are somewhat evenly applied next to each other and cover the entire surface of the Paperweight. You can feel the raised relief of the decoration with your fingers when you run them across the surface.
This paperweight is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is not signed but the decoration is a well documented decor by Fratelli Toso. This is an early Piece of Murano Art Glass. This piece of glass was made Circa 1900-1920.
