Pair of heavy 19th century mantle ewers, solid bronze, in manner of Claude Michel/Clodion, high relief castings, all-over vintage motif with grape clusters, vine and leaf, winged putti sitting on high arched handles, well modeled celebration around center band of putto with various trumpets, laurels, grape clusters, one ewer has goddess on chariot pulled with goats. 21.5” tall, 10” spout to handle, 19 pounds each. Circa mid 1800 table mount sewing bird, solid brass feather stamped and spring mounted body, pin cushion on bird’s back, plain cast iron table clamp with heart cutout thumb screw. 5.75” tall, 3.75” long, 2” wide. Condition – excellent, great overall patina. 130 - Identical examples with fancy clamps and “Patented, Feb 15, 1853”, This patent was granted to Charles Waterman, Meriden, CT. - Sewing birds are also considered one of the items manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard, Meriden, CT, in the early 1850’s, Some dated models have identical stampings, but generally had floral castings on the clamp. ?-Could this be an early undated and plain version? - It could probably be assumed the Bradley and Hubbard was the company of choice by Waterman for production and retailing?? http://www.leevalley.com/newsletters/Gardening/4/5/whatisit.htm   « Less

Circa 19th century dresser box / jewel casket, Wavecrest, CF Monroe, Meridan, Conn, “Billow Ware” company called pattern, white opal glass, blue/white soft luster/matte finish, hand enameled florals painted on top and sides, raised purple luster trim, reticulated gilt metal mounts. 5.25” dia, 3.25” tall. Condition – excellent. 526 - Circa 1890-1900. - This “Billow Ware” glass pattern is now commonly referred to as eggcrate. - CF Monroe patterns were company designed and patented.
