A great and unusual pair of vintage silhouettes. As shown, this original matching pair of reverse painted silhouettes on convex glass features polychrome decoration of a young girl in 1940’s attire. In one silhouette, she sits at a writing desk with a long pen quill in her hand, dressed in a long pink dress with green trim at the bottom and a green bow in her hair. A pair of silhouettes hangs on the wall just behind her. This silhouette has a small nip (at about the 3:30 mark) of the exterior edge paper that wraps from the back. The second silhouette shows the same girl seated at a piano, paying from sheet music with music notes aloft in the air. Interesting, she wears a long green dress with pink frill and a pink flower in her hair. There are seven silhouettes that hang on the wall in an arc over the piano. This silhouette has lost some of the edge black paper wrap at the nine o’clock position and a significant amount at the 12-1 o’clock position. In addition, there is a fold in the satin at this position. This may look like a crack in the photo, but it is not in the glass, but the background. Each silhouette measures just under 6” in diameter. Really a beautiful and unusual set.   « Less

Mint condition—no chips, cracks or repairs—on this all three of these antique Victorian german porcelain reticulated bowls. As shown, this high bidder will receive the entire set, consisting of: A flat, reticulated plate measuring 7 ¾” in diameter which retains its original Souvenir of Portland, Maine label A reticulated bowl measuring 7 ¾” in diameter. A double-handled bowl 6 1/8” by 9 5/8” which retains its original Souvenir of Portland, Maine label. All three pieces are made of fine, German porcelain and marked with Germany in blue on the bottom sides. Each features a polychrome central scene of a Courting Couple leaning against a fence with a backdrop of lush forest and a castle in the far distance. In turn, this scene is framed out with alternating arched rose garland swags and medallion rose blossoms. This set was obviously never used and is in pristine condition. Even the hand-painted gilt accents are free of any wear. You could not find better. An impressive set of original, antique Portland, Maine souvenir porcelain.   « Less

As shown, this piece features a realistic pyrography depiction of three Beagles framed out in a large medallion scene with a capital “B” in fancy script at the base. This piece has its original solid brass hanging rail and metal loop hanger at the top. The back of this plaque is dated 1908 and marked with FLEMISH 318 ART. This plaque measures 7” by 14 ¼”. Great condition—no chips, cracks or repairs—on this pair of antique and highly unusual Shepherd and Sheep table lamps. As shown, this original matching pair feature a statue grouping of an old shepherd tending to a flock of seven sheep while carrying a lamb cradled in his left arm. The shepherd wears a broad-brimmed hat, long flowing robe and extends a long wooden hook to nudge one of the sheep back to the flock. Each statue is thickly plated in copper which has built up a warm patina over the past 100+ years. Although these are heavy (each weighs 3.5 lbs.), they are certainly not solid copper and are probably filled with composition. Still, the copper is thick and all-over (including the bottom) such that they appear to be solid copper. Each lamp measures 6 ½” wide by 11 5/8” tall and each works fine. Really an impressive pair.   « Less
