The length of this ladle is 10.75", nice length for your treasured tureen. On the back of this sterling silver piece there is a triple monogram (?)of the period. The retailer is S.W. MacDonald. The retailer printed on the back of the shank tells you that it is a very early ladle as that custom ceased years and years ago. The design on the early pieces is well detailed. Please note the unique fluted bowl which is very attractive on the table. The many reflections in the bowl caused a poor picture. « Less

Wonderful for serving from large bowls as the button on the reverse keeps the spoon from slipping into the bowl. Length 12.50" Monogram "A" of the period. Krider served in the army in the Civil War, and at its end in 1865 he returned to the silver business Krider and Biddle located in Philadelphia,taking it over five years later.
