Antique Georgian micromosaic brooch with very rare depiction of a woman as a miniature portrait, set in 22 carat gold in the Etruscan Revival style. Circa 1830-40. Measures More »
Antique Georgian micromosaic brooch with very rare depiction of a woman as a miniature portrait, set in 22 carat gold in the Etruscan Revival style. Circa 1830-40. Measures 2 inches long. Outstanding, museum quality micro mosaic, so subtly done that it appears as an oil painting, smoothe to the touch. Tiny tesserae, finely connected to form the image of a woman, dressed in semi Classic Roman robes, typical of the Neo Classical taste of the period. The woman is clearly a historic figure - reminiscent of the great Byzantine mozaic of the Empress Theodora, Justinian''s wife. She wears a white turban set with gold and jewels, a white robe with Royal blue shawl and scarlet sash. She also wears fingerless gloves. Her jewellery includes dangle earrings, a brooch set in the turban and her eyes are underlined with black make-up. The gold mount frame tests for at least 18 carat and probably 22k. Fine granulation and filigree decoration in rings around the oval that slopes inwards, drawing attention to the central figure. The mount is in the Etruscan Revival style with a similar mount shown for a micromosaic Spaniel done by Castellani (plate 56 of Castellani and Giuliano by Geoffrey C Munn). Very good condition. No chips/cracks/losses/restoration found. See THeodora page 49 of book on Costume and Fashion by James Laver. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3740 Condition: good Year: 1830 Title: ANTIQUE GEORGIAN MICRO MOSAIC WOMAN 22K GOLD BROOCH 1830 « Less

Antique Georgian double ring made of 15K gold. Made in England, 18th century. US size 5 1/2. The ring consists of a double band of parallel lines, with identically set stones, set apart by a fraction of an inch so that they are staggered. The lines consist of the following stones respectively: a sapphires, two small diamonds, a ruby, two small diamonds, a sapphire. This makes for a highly attractive and interesting ring. Petite and finely worked, especially considering the limited technology available at the time. The coloured stones are set in raised gold collets with unusual scrolls around the borders. The area enclosing the diamonds is silver. There are no hallmarks, but the ring tests for at least 15 carats. Good original condition. Designed by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany, circa 1950-70''s Probably intended as a pinky signet ring for a gentleman, the ring is a US size 6 3/4. Weight approx 9 grams. Bright yellow gold and vibrant blue lapis lazuli, contrasting and complimenting each other in an energetic combination of materials. The gold is further hammered, adding subtle effects. Set of 3 Edwardian / early Deco 14 carat gold and enamel jewelry ladybug spirals, used to decorate hair or collar or button-holes. Made in Germany, early 20th century - 1910 - 1930. Antique Victorian signed 9ct gold brooch / pin with a horse and jockey in a horse race. Made circa 1860-1890''s, in England. Measures a tad over 1 1/4 inches long. More »
Antique Victorian signed 9ct gold brooch / pin with a horse and jockey in a horse race. Made circa 1860-1890''s, in England. Measures a tad over 1 1/4 inches long. WOnderfully modelled figural group of a horse at full gallop with a jockey bent over his back. Mane and tail fly backwards. Note detail to horse from the hooves to the eyes, bridle and reigns. The jockey is even more exciting with his boots and cap, perched on the saddle. Great detail and very finely created by a true master goldsmith. The back has it''s original hinged C-clasp. A number of hallmarks appear on the back: Regsitered mark, which indicates that it was probably made in Britain. An incised number:15839. 9Ct and the maker, A&W. Condition is very good. Magnifying glass reveals that there is a minute hole in the sleeve of the jockey''s arm which might be original to the piece (there are also two definately intentional holes at the back - see ''photos), but I could not see this with my ''naked eyes'' and mention it only for the sake of accuracy. Antique Victorian 14 carat gold and pearl jewelry parure, consisting of a pair of earrings and pendant-brooch. Made 19th century - circa 1880-1890. Total length of pendant-brooch is about 1 1/2 inches and width is approx 1 1/8 inches. Total weight is 13 grams. Each piece with a finely detailed flower on top of an open amphora or urn-shape with swags of foliage on either side and a cross-over bow at the bottom apex. A pearl is suspended in the open space of the urn / amphora and another at the bottom. Gold chains are suspended from the handles of the amphorae and connect to the bottom pearls, forming an outer loop. The entire surface area of the gold is engraved and moulded with very fine detail and with an applied orb in the center of each flower. Additional attraction results from the swing of pearls and gold chains as the wearer moves. Very fine workmanship and quality. The larger piece can be worn as either a brooch or pendant. The earrings have very comfortable loops with a catch at the back for additional security. Each piece is hallmarked 14K. Larger pearls may be a replacement - the Victorians tended to use seed pearls. Good condition. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3611 Condition: good Year: 1880 Title: ANTIQUE PARURE GOLD PEARL EARRINGS PENDANT BROOCH « Less

Classic antique Victorian 14 carat gold ring with a carved coral woman''s face, possibly dating to Ancient Rome, mounted during the early Victorian period . 1830-50. US More »
Classic antique Victorian 14 carat gold ring with a carved coral woman''s face, possibly dating to Ancient Rome, mounted during the early Victorian period . 1830-50. US size 7. Almost 5/8inches long. Great orange-red colour to the coral with no striations in paler shades. The oval-shaped coral is deeply carved by a master into the form of a front-facing woman, beautiful round face, great detail to hair and wearing a crown of some sort. She looks like an Ancient Greek / Roman woman of Royalty and may be a goddess. Very finely done. Old Greek and Roman cameos were re-used by the Georgian and Victorians. The coral is set in a gold mount with delicate triangular openwork pattern on the sides to echo the curves of the clasps that hold the coral. The band is tubular and thin, - looks very elegant, even on a less than elegant finger. The tubular band of this ring is typical of the Georgians, while the clasping mount is more Victorian in style. The inside of the band has something engraved - whether a hallmark or initials, it has been obscured and is not quite legible. The ring was tested for 14 carat gold. Condition is good. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3579 Condition: good Year: 1930 Title: CLASSIC ANTIQUE ROMAN VICTORIAN CARVED CORAL GOLD RING « Less
