Wonderfully crafted sterling silver serving spoon. Approximately 9" long and weighs 1.96 troy oz. No monogram. This finely crafted spoon has 3 well executed stylized leaf & berry sprigs on the handle. I think they may be cherries. The handle also seems to be fashioned in the shape of an arrowhead or gothic design. This spoon has some really nice features that remind me of the work of George Sharp. The bowl has a very light gold wash. The spoon is marked STERLING and is in very good condition. Slight bend to rim of bowl which I will mention for accuracy but is hardly noticeable as is shown in photos. It can be fixed very easily. « Less

Beautiful and rare sterling silver gravy ladle by Starr & Marcus of New York NY. Approximately 7" long. The bowl is 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" and about 1" deep. More »
Beautiful and rare sterling silver gravy ladle by Starr & Marcus of New York NY. Approximately 7" long. The bowl is 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" and about 1" deep. The bowl is gilt inside and out. There is a monogram, Durant. I tried to find out the name of the pattern but to no avail. Marks include STARR & MARCUS, STERLING and PATENT. Theodore B. Starr first appears in the New York City directories in 1862 as a jeweler. About 1865 he entered into partnership with Herman Marcus. The firm is listed as jewelers and silversmiths for 1865 and 1866. They apparently gave up manufacturing their own wares in 1867. Very good condition. « Less

Wonderful grouping of two English sterling silver 18th century tea or coffee spoons by Hester Bateman, 1709-1794. One is approximately 4 7/8" and the other is 5" More »
Wonderful grouping of two English sterling silver 18th century tea or coffee spoons by Hester Bateman, 1709-1794. One is approximately 4 7/8" and the other is 5" long. Each is marked with the HB for Hester Bateman and the walking lion that is standard for English sterling silver. The one that is monogrammed with a "B" has a feathered edge that is slightly worn from age and use. The one with the "AD" monogram is slightly rough on the top edge of the handle. Both have handles that are slightly bent downward. Date marks are not visible but they came from the same collection that had a pair of salt spoons circa 1775. Hester Bateman is known as "The Queen of English Silversmiths". « Less
