Width 75", depth 31", height 30". Early refectory tables from any country are in high demand due in part to their practical usefulness today. The Spanish variety is especially practical since chairs can be comfortable positioned beneath the table, unlike the English variety with foot rails adjacent to the table edge. This particular table has especially attractive sculptured legs and decorative iron stretchers that are curved and ringed, ending in a scroll at the top. Condition: In good overall condition for its age, and sturdy, ready for everyday use. The top has age cracks, scratches, dents, and burn marks (mainly along one edge), as may be expected in an original piece. The top of each leg has been restored with a 1/4" added strip of wood apparently to make the legs snug in the groove due to age shrinkage and wear (see photo "L26 leg top". The bottom of one leg has been restored due to excessive woodworm damage (see photo "L26 leg"), but otherwise the legs are original and in good condition. The upper surface of the top piece is all the original material, but there are minor restorations to the underside: four "hour-glass" brackets to hold the two top boards snug and an patch to one corner. #L26   « Less

The chairs are just spectacular, with a very decorative back resembling of the Jansen Balloon chairs, original caned seat and doré bronze claw fitting in legs and bronze decorative plaques in back and skirt. The table has 4 extension leaves and a central drop base to support the weight of the leaves when fully opened. Take a close look to the leaves lock system all original to the table. Also with fantastic doré bronze fitted claw feet and decorative medallions in the skirt. A superb addition to your interior decor!! CONDITION: Excellent shape for age and use, expect only normal wear, like small scratches, etc. Old repairs in chairs. But firm and sturdy. Bid with confidence!! MEASURES: Table is 11ft 5" fully opened X 49" WIDE X 30" HIGH. Each extension is 19 1/2". The table when fully closed can be as small as 60" LONG X 49" WIDE. The round top also with fine carved decorations on the skirt and a stunning marquetry medallion on the center top made with maccassar, birch, burled walnut , rosewood and other rare wood veneers.
