Rare antique mixed metal sterling on bronze signed Art Deco vase. The vase is numbered 3084H. IT has a maker's mark in a diamond inscribed on the bottom and under that reads STERLING ON BRONZE PAT. AUG 27.12. The vase has one tiny dent hard to see about 1/4 inch down from the top on it's right side. The silver is in the form of decorative flowers. The vase measures 3-1/2 inches high. She measures 10-5/8 inches high, widest width 4-1/4 inches, diameter of base 3-1/4 inches. This is a rare signed and numbered bronze displaying the roundness, shapes, and motions shown on Art Deco sculptures. This is number 3 out of only 6 made circa 1915. Beautiful antique nude bronze patinated white metal lady lying on a bronze patinated Persian carpet. This is a wonderful desk top paper weight and will also look beautiful displayed in a cabinet with other sculptures. The sculpture is artist inscribed in a small plaque at one end of the carpet. It is hard to read so please click photo enlargements to see detail. The nude lady measures 5 inches long and 2 inches high. She is attached to a carpet measuring 5-1/4 inches long and 3 inches wide. Weight 1.25 lbs. Other than some minor rubbing on the underside commensurate with age and use she is in excellent condition. Beautiful Art Deco bronze tiger signed J. Merculiano and dated 1914. There is a very good listing on this Italian sculptor unfortunately there are not many bronzes that have appeared at auction or come on the market by this artist. The sculpture is extremely life like. Great attention was paid to the detail of this composition. The gnarling on the surface of the bronze and hand finished work makes this bronze different than any other animalier bronze sculpture. From the base to the top of the tiger's rear foot it measures 7 inches. The base measures 1-3/4 inches high, 6-1/2 inches wide, and 4-1/4 inches deep. The sculpture not including the signed polished stone base measures 5-1/4 inches high. Weight: 7 lbs. The base is signed, dated, and beautifully made. This is an extremely rare sculpture the first and only by this artist we have seen or have had the pleasure to offer for sale. It is in superb original condition. She is titled and artist signed Foretay, and also has a raised foundry seal on the back near her signature. This bronze is triple marked title, signature, and foundry mark. She is beautifully sculptured and is set to be used as a paperweight on her highly polished variegated black marble base. She looks like the work of Bruno Zach.
