Rare 19th C American Portrait Miniature Of A Handsome Young Boy By Nanthanial Rogers, N.A. (1787 - 1844) Circa: 1825 Set In A Gilded Copper Locket Frame With Cast Foliate Border, The Reverse With A Sprig Of Hair 2 7/16" Inchest High Nathaniel Rogers, N.A. (1787-1844) Was, With Henry Inman, Samuel F B Morse And Thomas Seir Cummings, A Founding Member Of The National Academy Of Design. Nathaniel Rogers Was Instructed By Anson Dickinson, P. Howell And Uriah Brown Before Becoming An Apprentice To Joseph Wood. By 1813, Rogers Had Set Up His Own Studio And Was Quickly One Of The Most Successful Artists In New York. According To Cummings He Painted "Most Of The Fashionables Of His Day." A Prolific Artist, His Delightful Portraits May Be Seen In Virtually Every Fine Collection.
