R. Lalique glass dual centerpiece and candelabrum. ''Faisans'', (pheasants), created / designed 1942. No. 2125bis in Marcilhac. Measurements: 5 1/2 inches high; 12 1/4 inches accross neighbouring ends, 15 7/8 inches (40.2cm) accross diagonal side. Weighs ...lbs. Made of clear and tinted sepia glass with brass metal inserts for the candlesticks. Very solid and the design echoes and reinforces the sturdy aspect of the design, with the clear glass giving the opposite, ephemeral effect. Alternating with backwards arching bands that support the candlesticks, are 4 quarters of a circular band, each moulded with a spectacular pheasant - birds that were clearly a favourate of Rene Lalique''s. The modelling is in very high relief with fabulous detail combining realism with abstract design. Very pleasing to the eye. The birds are further enhanced with a pinkish - brown patina. Antique gilt bronze and cut crystal candelabra. Made in France, 19th century. From an extremely prestigious estate: William Nelson Camp, owner of Florida Power, vast real estate and phosphate mines and good friend of the richest of the rich and powerful. These stood on a table with a Baccarat glass and gilt bronze champagne bucket. Very likely the glass is Baccarat as well. It is well cut in a diamond shape that glitters and plays beautifully as the light catches it at different angles. Round base with tubular shaped bronze sides enclosing the glass. From this long stem 4 arms curl outwards, each with scrolling openwork decoration and fine foliate mouldings curling out from the branches. Drip pans and bobeches all with moulded patterns. In the center a long, elegant and slender central stand holds a candle higher than the rest. Even without us cleaning off the leftover wax from the last ball or dinner, the candelabra are very elegant and beautiful. Very good condition. Very early Sheffield plated night candlestick. Dates to late 18th or early 19th century. Made in England. 2 1/4inches high. 6 1/4inches accross. Very pretty ornate shaped border. Repousse shells and leaves Sides with scrolling fluted and curved badges. Center with pierced base fence around candle holder. Hand / thumb piece curved and oval. Like all genuine old Sheffield silver, there is a large amount of bleeding, where the copper shows through the silver. Very gentle and beautiful old patina.
