Although the vast majority of our posters are from the Belle Epoque and Art Deco periods (I am an unreformed poster snob), I am slowly getting drawn into the modern age and its posters. This one, from a poster exhibition which took place in the U in 1973 is just too delicious (pardon the pun) too resist. It is in very good condition, unlined, and measures, 20 x 30 inches. For those of you who don''t know what Bovril is: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: ''Bovril is the trademarked name of a thick, salty meat extract, developed in the 1870s by John Lawson Johnston and sold in a distinctive, bulbous jar. It is made in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire and distributed by Unilever UK. Bovril can be made into a drink by diluting with hot water. It can also be used as a flavouring for soups, stews or porridge, or spread on bread, especially toast, rather like Marmite. The first part of the product''s name comes from Latin bos (genitive bovis) meaning ''ox'' or ''cow''. Johnston took the -vril suffix from Bulwer-Lytton''s then-popular 1870 ''lost race'' novel The Coming Race, whose plot revolves around a powerful energy fluid named ''Vril''.'' All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items. Please see our other items for sale - check back often we add things almost every day! This group of posters includes one from a German folk rock group or festival (can''t tell, don''t read German) with a hand-written notice of where and when the concert will be (According to Wikipedia: ''Folk rock arose mainly from the confluence of three elements: urban/collegiate folk vocal groups; singer-songwriters and the revival of North American rock and roll after the British Invasion. Of these, the first two owed direct debts to Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and the Popular Front culture of the 1930s. The FolkRock poster is in very good condition and measures 27 x 19 inches, the Lundisques poster is also in very good condition and measures 15.5 x 22 inches, Orchestra Sympathique measures 27 x 22 inches, and the Raoul Duguay poster measures 22 x 17 inches. These posters were in the private collection of a noted jazz musician and producer and are only a couple of hundreds which we have just received. The two posters in this grouping are from various artistic efforts produced in Quebec in the 1980''s. The first, Pain Blanc is a wonderful piece produced for a theater group. I am not clear if this is a maquette (original work from which other posters were produced) or if it is a poster in and of itself. It is printed on thick paper, measures 27 x 19 inches and has a few spots of wear both within the image and at the corners but it is of such an exceptional visual impact that I felt it should be included in the works sold by/at my gallery. The maquette for the Graphic Guild measure 26 x 20 inches and shows some wear and foxing - there is no existing information on the Graphic Guild. These posters were in the private collection of a noted jazz musician and producer and are only a couple of hundreds which we have just received. The others will be appearing in our ebay store shortly. Price is for both posters. All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items. This group of posters includes one which appears to be some kind of promotional piece for a group of literary pieces - the reverse side of Madness (which has a spot on it - visible in the photo - near the ''D'' and appears to have originally been folded in four, but which is otherwise in good shape and fairly interesting) under the Glide label, including such classics as: ''Shock Treatment is not Good for your Brain. Call Me...'', ''The Battered Wives of America...'', Yerba Buena: Land Grab and Community Resistance in San Francisco'', ''Loving WOmen/Loving Men: Gay Liberation and the Church...'' Either someone had a wicked sense of humor, or the book titles of the 1970''s are too cool for me... Madness measures 16 x 18 inches and is overall in good condition (with noted creases). The second poster in this book appears to be art for an exhibition of photographs pertaining to Three Mile Island which took place in Montreal by noted photographer Robert del Tredici (''Robert Del Tredici is an artist, photographer, and teacher with a BA in philosophy, an MA in Comparative Literature (University of California, Berkeley), and an interest in the dynamic between image and text. His first sustained artwork was a series of 100 pen-and-ink illustrations to Herman Melville''s Moby Dick, done in the early 1960s. He studied under Tibetan teacher Chogyam Trungpa in the early 1970s, who gave him the name ''Good Eye of Enlightenment.'' Del Tredici began documenting the nuclear age in 1979. His first book of photographs and interviews, The People of Three Mile Island (Sierra Club Books, 1980), was part sociology and part critique of nuclear power. His second book, At Work in the Fields of the Bomb (Harper & Row, 1987), documented the US nuclear weapons industry and won the 1987 Olive Branch Book Award for its contribution to world peace.''), this piece measures 27.5 x 19 inches, and the third was for a piece called L''ordonatrice by Louise Guay for which I can find no information. Guay piece measures 23 x 18 inches. These posters were in the private collection of a noted jazz musician and producer and are only a couple of hundreds which we have just received. The others will be appearing in our ebay store shortly. Price is for all 3 posters. All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items.
