Matching Sofa and armchair set, carved keyhole crest, acanthus carved arm accents, carved base rail, carved 'triple goat hoof' feet. Fair condition. Used moderately by elderly couple. Reupholstered about 25 years ago by the same couple. Not badly damaged, but both pieces are faded (especially sofa) and need new upholstery and refinishing. Purchased by my wife's grandmother from her brother in Los Angeles about 25 years ago. The brother had been storing the pieces (which he had purchased from another elderly couple in LA) and they were collecting dust, so my wife's grandmother purchased them for $1,000.00. She didn't like the upholstery so she spent about $2,000.00 to reupholster them at a small shop on Main Street in Ventura, California. Kept at her Ventura home since then. I recently had the items appraised through whatitsworthtoyou.com. Appraiser Jeff Motsinger dated the items to between 1870 and 1920 and stated the following: "It is an attractive set, the 'keyhole' crest is quite elegant. Victorian and Victorian style sofas and chairs are not uncommon and when the upholstery needs changing, prices are usually moderate. The two piece set in the photographs should be priced at about $600 wholesale to around $1,200 retail. Fresh, rich upholstery would about double the value." We're asking $800 or best offer for both. This doesn't include transport, but I will gladly work with your shipper to ensure a smooth transaction.   « Less
