For your consideration we offer a rare 1945 post card with the Sons of the Pioneers band members autographs. Included are from l to r Hugh Farr, Bob Nolan, Roy Rogers, Karl Farr, Tim Spencer, Lloyd Perryman and Pat Brady. Autographs are genuine not part of the image. The post card is post dated August 27, 1945, San Antonio, Texas. It was sent to a lady in New Braunfels, Texas. The pics provided include the message which is typed, but the signature of Sam S. Kaufman is real. The ink used for the autographs and the "Happy Trails From Hugh Farr Sons of the Pioneers" is silver in color and under a jeweler's loupe is evident the signatures are all real. Measures 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" site size, with frame 13" x 14 7/8". The wood appears to be walnut with some black trim at the top and within the interior of the frame. A nice handsome frame in good + condition which will benefit from a light polish.
The framer created a pocket for the photocopy of the post card's reverse side.
There are 2 small tears along the matting located at the top right center and top right corner. Both are small with one having a tiny spot of paper missing. There is also a crease at the bottom right corner which is really small meauring approx. 6 or 7mm. There are 2 other creases which are on the right side of the postcard and again the upper right corner. The largest starts at the right side of the postcard and runs up and across Brady's forehead and ending at the middle of Perryman's hat. The latter half of the crease is very light but I could see it so am mentioning it. The other crease is above the name Brady and has a small spot of paper missing. All creases blend into the background when viewed froma normal distance, but when up close such as inspecting once can see them. Lastly there is a small spot of mising paper at the edge of the bottom fence board which again doesn't take away anthing from the autographs or image but it is there and one more thing which is the brown stain on the upper board of the fence beneath Perryman. I try to mention anything that I can find on anything we offer for sale. That being said this post card with all the band member signatures is still a beautiful piece for ones collection. The image is overall crisp and those issues mentioned are for the most part along the matting edge. The exceptions are the creases by Brady and the one small spot by the fence board.
