For sale I have a lovely piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Snowberry" and the shape is an Ashtray. This is one of the hardest items to find in the Roseville Snowberry Pattern with or without damage. The piece measures 1 1/4" tall and is approximately 5 3/8" wide in diameter .
The Ashtray depicts very Nice clusters of White Berries with a handful of Detailed Green Leaves on Brown Branches. These rise from the edge and fork into 2 branches and one of them forking again at the top towards the opposite edge. These are set against a Matt Country Blue Glaze with Rose hues background. There are 4 Grooves along the outer edge to rest your cigarettes.
The Ashtray is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. There are a few areas along the edge that is weak in the Blue Glaze. One having a bigger glaze miss than the others. The piece is signed "Roseville U.S.A." in incised script. There is also a letter "Y" written in grease pencil which is most likely the finishers mark.
This ashtray was made, Circa 1947.
