A very unusual German Cigarette Case in that it is not trench art but commercially made and according to the date stamped on the drum faces in the motif, produced after WW!. Unusual in the sense that the Imperial family was in disgrace in the eyes of the German people for having lost the war. The Kaiser was banished from Germany and the new German government discouraged the use of Imperial crests, seals or flags. One can only guess that this case was made immediately after the war and then in only very limited numbers. An interesting piece of history and a great addition to a variety of collections. In very good condition showing light abrasion from use. One of the interior cigarette retaining springs is stretched and requires adjustment. Size 3.25" x 3.75". 1918-19.
