Antique desk set from Scotland. 19th century made of Burr Walnut finished lacquer, ivory and set with 2 Wedgwood jasper plaques. Original lable of jeweler retailer.Measures 12 1/4inches accross the front; 8 inches front to back and stands on 4 bun feet.The lacquer work is superbly painted to immitate Burr walnut. It is set with ivory plaques, secured by old, Celtic patterned studs. A raised box with removable lid has original retailer''s sticker of William Orr Stevens Jewellery, Glasgow Scotland. ....Repositary for Scottish Gems and every description of SCOTCH pebble work. The original heavy glass inkpots with bubble bottoms and faceted shoulders are missing their lids. Some loss to the delicate ivory plaques. Two fabulous Wedgwood oval plaques are set into the front on either side. Blue and white jasper ware in fabulous detail.
