Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire inkwell modeled as a poodle standing on an oval, cobalt base, carrying a flower basket in its mouth. Two legs molded free. Dull gilt line to base. Good. No flakes. Some wear to the cobalt base. Gilt line almost completely rubbed off. Kiln effects: touch mark to the reverse; shrinkage hairline to the reverse; small shrinkage crack just below poodle''s right ear and another to reverse of base; stray cobalt glaze to the reverse. Repair to background and across the poodle''s back. Repaired crack to front right leg. Retouching to nose and muzzle. 5.5ins high
