Extremely rare 18th century iron & silver vermeille device
I cuold not find usefulness , some colleagues said for rituals , others said inkwell , anyway it's a very decorative device
The curious here is the ball at the top too , because when you press it the two sides of the " globe " open to down and the silver vermeille part appear. ( the mechanism it doenst work properly , it needs the finger help sometimes to open and close it )
According to my few knowledge could be between 1700 / 1850 period.
The vermeille part has a silver mark ( see photos plase )
The unusual item size is : 9 " or 23 cm aprox. x 5 " or 12 cm aprox.
