Price: $210.00
Circa mid 1800 table mount sewing bird, solid brass feather stamped and spring mounted body, pin cushion on bird’s back, plain cast iron table clamp with heart cutout thumb screw.
5.75” tall, 3.75” long, 2” wide.
Condition – excellent, great overall patina. 130

- Identical examples with fancy clamps and “Patented, Feb 15, 1853”, This patent was granted to Charles Waterman, Meriden, CT.
- Sewing birds are also considered one of the items manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard, Meriden, CT, in the early 1850’s, Some dated models have identical stampings, but generally had floral castings on the clamp. ?-Could this be an early undated and plain version?
- It could probably be assumed the Bradley and Hubbard was the company of choice by Waterman for production and retailing??
