Brass meat jack, dating from the late 19th century. Wind-up keyed mechanism - you insert your clock key into the keyhole, wind the gadget up, suspend the meat you want spit roasted from the lower hook, and hang the jack in the fireplace where it will turn around, giving the meat a rotisserie finish. Stamped with the maker's name: T.Duddlesto Maker Warranted. Condition: It has a few dents, and one screw is absent from the base (should be easy enough to get a brass replacement). Otherwise, a very handsome item. Unfortunately I can't find a clock key of the right size to wind this item, so cannot test the mechanism. It appears to have been recently oiled. (selling on consignment). Needs a key with internal measurements 4 mm x 4 mm minimum. Heavy.
