England
Late 19th century.
This interesting piece, perhaps made by a cooper (barrel maker), is comprised of a variety of woods fashioned into a tightly-made bucket for carrying chunks of peat to stoke the hearth. While an everyday item at the time, the variegated effect of the woods raises it to a more interesting level. Accented by brass fittings and handle.
