Rare & Important 19th C American Shaker Canterbury, N.H. Mustard Yellow Paint Pail. Circa: 1850. The unusual and rare large size is a noteworthy example of the cooperage industry at Canterbury. It was most likely used in the production of applesauce, an important industry at Canterbury. Pine with birch handle, original mustard yellow paint with blue painted interior, iron bands, bail and bail holders. The bottom with black painted script "W.H.Sauce" with attached handwritten letter of authenticity by Eldress Bertha Lindsay of the Canterbury Shakers.
