A very fine early lacquer letter box with detailed bird motif in silver and gilt with decorative prunus blossoms and branches. Decorated to the Japanese taste, this simple and refined box has lovely scalloped detail on the sides to facilitate opening.
Condition: Excellent. Some very slight wear on edges as would be expected for the period and minimal useage of this piece.
