Folding fan. 19th century, French Victorian, silk embroidered & ebonised wood, mourning fan - all in black. Each stick is 13inches long. The black ebony wooden sticks are secured by a metal attachement with little buttons that may be ivory or very old wood. The folding fan is made of rich black silk embroidered with black flowers. It is extremely elegant and subtle. Condition is generally very good. One guard needs to be secured to the fabric (easilly done with a spot of glue). The silk and embroidery on the front are in very good condition - no damage of any sort. At the back, the silk is thinner and it has torn in one or two places along the folds.
