Circa 1890 Mafra Majolica Palissy wall plate with a family of toads, two lizards, one attacking the other, a tortoise and beetle on mossy ground. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot. Three stilt marks inside the foot along with impressed maker''s marks ''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and a large ''6''. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. Chip to beetle antennae. Small flake to tortoise shell and minor flaking to the moss. Restored chips to the foot. Old restoration of one beetle leg. 8.75ins diameter
