Circa 1890 Majolica Palissy wall plate with a terrapin in the center, two moths and a worm around the outside. Green mossy ground. Brown, cream and green reverse with two hanging holes on the foot. Three stilt marks and impressed maker''s mark ''JOSE A. CUNHA PORTUGAL CALDAS RAINHA'' inside the foot. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. A few small chips to the moss. Kiln effect: glaze accumulation to the foot. Four restored chips to the foot. Small restored chip to left antennae of one moth. Restored flake to the worm. 6.5ins diameter
