Circa 1890 Majolica Palissy wall plate with two lizards in the center, and three beetles around the edge, all on mossy ground. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot rim. Three stilt marks and impressed maker''s marks ''M. MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and ''6'' inside the foot rim. Generally good. No cracks. No hairlines. One beetle leg missing, though not obvious. Small chip to larger lizard''s lower jaw. Glaze chip to the foot rim. Kiln effect: glaze accumulation to the foot rim. Old restoration of five beetle legs and one antennae. 9ins diameter
