Circa 1890 Majolica Palissy wall plate with snake and lizard in confrontation on mossy ground. A beetle on the side. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot rim. Impressed, ''M.Mafra'' maker''s mark and three stilt marks inside the foot rim. Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. Small chip to beetle''s head. One small flake to lizard''s front right leg, one to foot rim and minor flaking to shredded green clay. 8.5ins diameter
