Circa 1890 Large Majolica Palissy wall plate molded with a lizard attacking a snake from within its burrow. Two lizards either side. Mossy ground. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot. Three stilt marks and impressed maker''s mark ''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' inside the foot. Generally good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. Chip to foot and a tiny chip to two of the lizard''s tongues. Some small flakes to attacking lizard''s head and snake''s neck. Minor flaking to the moss. 12.5ins diameter
