Circa 1890 Large Majolica Palissy wall plate with two frogs, one coming out, one going into it''s burrow. Two lizards, beetles and a moth on green mossy ground. Mottled brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot rim. Three stilt marks inside the foot rim, along with impressed maker''s marks ''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and the number ''4'' inscribed below. Generally good. No cracks. Tight rim hairline to reverse only. Two chips and a flake to the foot rim. Large flake to reverse. Minor flaking to the moss. Kiln effect: glaze accumulation to the foot rim. Restoration of one lizard head, moth wings and beetle horn. 11.5ins diameter
