Circa 1890 Large Mafra Majolica Palissy plate with an eel, two fish, mussels and a worm to the center on green leaves and reeds. Shells, fish and shrimps around the rim. Pale ochre ground. Pale ochre reverse with two hanging holes to foot. Impressed mark ''M. MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' inside foot. Generally good. Kiln effect: kiln detritus to the central fish and eel. Extensive rim repairs. Restored chips to the eel''s tail. 15ins diameter
