Circa 1890 Jose Francisco de Sousa Majolica Palissy wall plate with two lizards, one inside its burrow, and a snake molded on mossy ground. Scalloped rim. Brown underside with two hanging holes on the foot. Impressed maker''s mark stylized ''JFS'' monogram and three stilt marks inside the foot. Good. No hairlines. No chips. Kiln effects: manufacture chip to front foot of lizard outside the burrow; right arm of lizard inside the burrow is missing from manufacture; small glaze miss to snake''s body. Repaired cracks to reverse. Repair to snake neck. Repair to neck of lizard outside the burrow. 8ins diameter
