Fine, American Aesthetic Movement wall plaque in gilt gesso. This large handsome piece of hi-style Victorian art features a heron, standing on one leg among a tuft of reeds in which a dragonfly hovers. This piece is three dimensional, deeply cast in plaster which has been gilded. The plaque retains it's original frame and dark wine colored velvet insert. Both the frame and the plaque have some minor losses of gilding commensurate with age. There has been some minor touch up to the frame but not on the plaque itself. 30"x 12" framed, the plaque is 25" x 7 ".
