Copy of an original in bronze, found in the thermes of Caracalla in 1546. restaured first by G.B. Biondi under the direction of Michelangelo and later by Calì in 1848. The subjects is taken from the tragedy of Euripides : Zethos and Amphion, sons of Antiope are binding Dirce to a bull to punish her for having persecuted their mother, and imprisoning her.
