Here we have a statue made by Auguste Louis Mathurin Moreau (French 1834-1917). The piece is signed on the side "Moreau" and also has a plaque in front with the name of the figure "Le Ruisseau" and "Par Aug. Moreau Med d'Or. Moreau worked with several metals including bronze, cast bronze, pewter, etc., unfortunately we don't think this qualifies as any of those. It is metal, but we can't figure it out. The statue is on a marble base. Moreau was part of a family of sculptures that were quite well known, and his work was on exhibit in France at a place called Salon. Total height of about 22 1/4" and very heavy. The statue could use a professional cleaning but overall very good condition. The statue has come off center from the marble base and needs to be re-aligned. There is also a small (penny size) bronze plaque on the side which reads "fabrication francais Paris made in France".
