Striking antique quarter-sawn oak fireplace mantel with a beveled mirror, dating from the early 1900s. This Art Nouveau style mantel features intricate carving and a gorgeous tiger-stripe grain in the wood. The top of the mantel features beveled levels, coming down to a panel with raised vine leaf carvings around the outer edges. This section is supported by round columns with foliate capitals that extend all the way down. The beveled mirror is surrounded by a decorative tooth trim, and below is a projecting shelf with rounded edges. The shelf is supported by pilaster capital brackets with raised scrolling foliage carved below. Each mantel leg features a second round pilaster with decorative capital. This mantel is in very good antique condition with some water marks as pictured and a nicely aged mirror. The mantel measures approximately 60†wide, 90" tall and 11" deep; the firebox opening is 41-1/2" wide and 36-1/4" tall.
