Magnificent antique tiger oak Arts and Crafts fireplace mantel with original slag glass, dating from the early 1900s. This quarter-sawn mantel features upper cabinetry with two divided-light doors, flanked on either side by gorgeous purple slag glass panels. Beneath the cabinets is a recessed panel and shallow mantel shelf. The mantel legs are straight-forward with strong, clean lines. As you can see from the pictures of the hardware and the difference in the wood grain, the cabinet doors and hardware have been replaced at some point, while the rest of the mantel is original. There is a light switch seen on one side of the mantel that is meant to light up the glass side panels, though we have not examined the wiring and this feature is sold as-is. The mantel measures approx. 57-1/2†wide, 71-3/4" tall, and 12-1/2†deep; the firebox opening is approx. 41-1/2†wide and 41-3/4†tall.
