Tin Railroad Signal Lantern. Black with colored glass. Tin; glass and brass. Rectangular tin lantern with a round base, round cone top, and a double bail handle on back, all with original black paint. Lantern has red, clear and yellow rectangular panes of glass with slots for tin sliding covers. The original blown glass chimney covers the brass burner inside. The external burner knob is marked, "PAT. April 16, 1878. "
