Early Sheffield Chamber Stick, complete with snuffer and wick trimmer. Flowers centered by scroll work and leaves decorate this quintessential English classic. The wick trimmer held together with a tudor rose. It was necessary to trim the wick as it curled because it would cause the tallow to smoke. When tallow was replaced with beeswax this problem was alleviated (the drudgery of wick trimming had been necessary at half hour intervals). Marked: Roberts, Cadman & Co. Circa 1785. Size: 7" Dia.(including handle) x 3.75" H.
