A French gilt bronze candlestick in the Empire style. Original gilding, very fine, crisp casting. Set upon a circular base with crisp leaf mouldings and rising to a reeded, flaring stem. The finely silvered underside of the base is very characteristic of the quality craftsmanship prevalent in France in the 1st quarter of the 19th century.
