Beautiful antique bronze orientalist snake charmer inscribed Emile Laporte. Emile Laporte was born in Paris on November 18, 1858 and died there in 1907. He studied with Dumont and Thomas and exhibited at the Salon de Artistes Francais from 1883 winning medals, a traveling scholarship, another medal in 1897, and a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. He is a well listed French sculptor from the 19th century. The sculpture depicts an orientalist woman wearing a necklace and holding a snake in her hand while the body of the snake is wrapped around her arm.
