Beautiful antique bronze plaque with a high relief sculpture of a beautiful nude lady carrying grape vines. At her feet are more grapes and vines. The reverse has a young farm boy sitting on a wall with a basket of grapes and grapes in his hand. Behind him are rows of grapevines. L. Coudray was a very important French sculptor who worked in the 19th and very early 20th centuries. A pair of bronze sculptures by this artist sold for $66.000. at Christies in New York less than 2 years ago. This is a beautiful bronze sculptured plaque measuring 2-3/4 inches high by 1-1/2 inches wide. Weight 73.8 grams. The plaque is in mint condition, artist signed in the upper right L. Coudray. The nude lady holding the grapes has very long flowing hair going all the way down her back. She is so lifelike she looks like she is walking right off the surface of the plaque. This is an exquisite piece as are all of this sculptor's works. It is guaranteed to please the most particular connoisseur or collector. (Item #72599)
