Beautiful antique bronze sculpture of Venus with a dolphin and 2 cherubs by her side. The sculpture is inscribed Kley. Louis Kley 1833-1911, was born in France on March 17, 1833 and died there on March 8, 1911. He studied with LeQuien and exhibited at the Paris salons starting in 1853, winning a medal at the Exposition of 1889 and many other prizes. He specialized in sculpting allegorical and Neo-classical subjects. This is a beautiful version of Venus with a nice chocolate brown patina. To her left is a fully sculptured dolphin with cherubs riding on it. Other than some minor rubbing to the base on the back side at the very bottom this sculpture is in very good to excellent condition. The patina is original to this sculpture. It measures 13-3/4 inches high, width at base measures 4-3/4 inches. Weight: 6-1/2 lbs. Guaranteed to please as are all our items. (Item #72023)
