Beautiful antique bronze sculpture of Eve walking with the apple signed Leffner. The top of the bronze is inscribed Seffner fec. The side of the bronze is inscribed Gladenbeck Berlin. Gladenbeck foundry was the equivalent to the French Barbedienne Foundry . Both were considered the finiest foundries in Europe. Gladenbeck was considered the most important foundry in Germany during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Gladenbeck was and is considered the best foundry in Germany turning out the most perfect pieces made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. CarlSeffner is a listed German 19th century artist who sculpted in the late 1800s. This Art Deco interpretation of Eve shows the fondness for tall women in Germany during that time period. This rendition is representative of this artist's finest work. She measures 12 inches high on her original black/dark green polished marble base. Not including the base she measures 9 inches.
