Beautiful antique gilt bronze nude lady water bearer signed Bizard (Suzanne Bizard), a 19th and early 20th century French artist who sculpted mostly beautiful nude women, this example being no exception. The bronze is inscribed Bizard on the side of the water jug. The sculpture depicts a beautiful nude gilt bronze lady seated on flat rocks holding a large water jug pouring water out. Suzanne Bizard created many beautiful female nude bronze sculptures this being one of her best. There were very few female sculptors who attained her degree of craftsmanship and artistry. Her sculptures are sought after and collected by sculpture enthusiasts worldwide. Very few come to the market. Almost all of her works are held in private collections. Height 10-1/2 inches. Widest width 5-1/4 inches. Depth 4-3/4 inches. The bronze sculpture by itself not including the marble base measures 9-3/4 inches high and is 5-1/2 inches wide at its widest point. Weight 9.5 lbs.
