Fabulous antique French box decorated elaborately with pique, pearl borders, enamel cabochons and a fine enamel cartouche, a portrait medallion. The interior of the box is lined with wood; for cigarettes, tobacco? It's large, 5" long, so I think it is not a snuff box. The bronze dore body is machine decorated. Condition is good; the inside clasp is broken. There are some minor losses to enamel and pique. The box is not signed, other than marked "Made in France" on the bottom. The work is fine quality, including of course, the pearls lining the top. So it is likely of sevres or Limoges manufacture. Circa late 1800's.
