Beautiful antique bronze sculpture depicting a young Mercury with a coin and money bag in one hand. He is holding his caduceus under one arm. He has his winged helmet also a symbol of mercury. The sculpture is artist signed on the back bottom but difficult to read. Please click picture enlargements for clear illustration of artist's signature. The bronze is beautifully sculptured. Usually Mercury is sculptured as an adult. This is the first time we have seen one with Mercury as a youth. The bronze and original base are in excellent condition. It measures 9-1/2 inches high. The bronze not including its original marble base measures 7 inches high. Weight 2.5 lbs. Both the bronze and the base are in excellent condition guaranteed to please the most particular collector or connoisseur. (Item #72817)
