Superb antique bronze sculpture depicting a muse blowing pipes summoning the Gods. The left side of her robe is slightly off her shoulder exposing her breast. She is beautiful and is in beautiful condition. It has a large floral high relief sculptured wreath adorning the base. It is inscribed Eug. Marioton. Eugene Marioton sculptured some of the finest French bronzes made in the 19th century. This example is one of his finest works. He has auction records for bronzes running as high as $23,500.00 for a 32.1 inch bronze titled La danse sculpture that was sold May 2, 2001 at Christie's New York. The one we are offering has a height of 21-1/2 inches, a weight of 11 lbs. The diameter at the base is 5-1/2 inches.
