Beautiful antique bronze nymph blowing horns that are held in her right hand while her left hand is in the air. At the base are carved and sculptured flowers. She has a lovely golden patina. Height: 21-1/2 inches. Widest width from the tip of the horn to the top oh her hand: 11-1/2 inches. Diameter at base: 5-3/8 inches. Weight: 13-1/2 lbs. Eugene Marioton born in Paris in 1854, studied under Dumont, Bonnassieux and Thomas and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1882 to 1922, winning bronze medals at the Exposition of 1889 and 1900, and a traveling scholarship in 1888. He specialized in portrait medallions, bas-reliefs and busts. This sculptor has auction records of more than $20,000. for some of his bronzes.
