A WUCAI (five color) on cream ground hard paste porcelain figure of a Chinese boy (Ho Ho) in a short tunic, much detail including cell pattern ground, ruyi collar, a lotus blossom and fine painted detail on white porcelain.
The Figurine has all the attributes to confirm it is pre 19th Century, and as early as late 18th century
The wear is light but appropriate. The figurine has the characteristic blow hole blow hole in back, and a moderately textured base. There is under glaze painting, as well as overglaze. Please see MILLERS CHINESE AND JAPANESE ANTIQUES, or your favorite auction archives.
Dimensions: Height 11 Inches
Condition: I believe the piece has had no repairs to the porcelain body. There may have been an early repaint to the top knots. I do not believe this is a late 19th, or 20th century copy. I know of no others other than this figurine, and the pieces shown in Millers.
